If you have experience using the EchoWeb system before, the logic of the FundAnalyser reporter is similar. We have combined the functionality of all EchoWeb’s reporting capabilities into one interface to simplify the user experience, and enhance efficiency by allowing both Industry and Own statistics to be outputted in the same file.

The reporter follows a wizard-style decision logic. Users are prompted to select settings in the following order:
Report display settings: select FUM, transactions and/or number of funds for analysis.
Statistics: choose one or more basic and calc ulated statistics. These will be shown for each of the variables chosen above. Note that selecting the template “Rank by fund within sector” would disable the “Group by “settings to avoid the disclosure of individual funds.
Group rows by: select the level at which the data should be analysed. Groups will be displayed as rows in the spreadsheet. Please note that if you group by “Fund” and “Shareclass”, the report will display your own fund data. This is to avoid the disclosure of data on individual funds managed by other investment managers.
Group columns by: split the data further into asset categories or distribution channels (distribution channels are available to Gross Sales, Repurchases and Net Sales only)
Display period totals: turn this feature on to display data into columns by distribution channels. Please note that this feature will only be specific to analysis based on gross sales, repurchases and net sales.
There are also a range of filters to choose from:
UK domiciled represents UK investors in UK and overseas domiciled funds. This filter is defaulted to “Include” both UK and overseas domiciled funds. If you move away from the default and select an alternative condition, you will not be able to tabulate sector data as this is withheld to avoid the possible disclosure of information on individual funds which may dominate the sector.
Responsible investment funds incorporate firm-level and fund-level components. The data presented is at the fund level where funds are pursuing one or more of the following responsible investment approaches and this approach is referenced in the fund documentation exclusions; sustainability focus; impact investing.
This filter is defaulted to “Include” Responsible Investment funds. You will not be able to tabulate sector data as this is withheld to avoid the possible disclosure of information on individual funds which may dominate the sector.
Tracker funds aim to track the performance of an index for example, the FTSE 100 Index.
These funds are sometimes called passively managed funds. This filter is defaulted to “Include” Tracker funds. If you select an alternative condition, you will not be able to tabulate “Responsible Investment Funds”, “Fund of funds”, or “Overseas Funds”. When selecting ‘tracker funds’ some sectors have been withheld from being displayed to avoid the possible disclosure of information on individual funds which may dominate a particular sector.
Feeder funds are treated as internal to the Industry Feeder funds will be discounted at fund under management level and transaction level. This filter is defaulted to “Exclude” Feeder funds. If you select an alternative condition, you will not be able to tabulate the sector to avoid the possible disclosure of information on individual funds which may dominate the sector.
Fund of Funds (FOFs) Industry funds under management includes money invested in the underlying funds in which funds of funds invest, but excludes money invested in funds of funds themselves (other than funds of overseas funds) to avoid double-counting. The FUM filter is defaulted to “Include” Fund of funds. If you select an alternative condition, you will not be able to tabulate and select “Responsible Investment funds”, “Tracker funds”, or “Overseas funds” to avoid the possible disclosure of information on individual funds.
All sales and repurchases of fund of funds are included. To avoid double counting, transactions between funds of funds and their underlying funds are excluded from January 2010.
Predominantly Overseas – Funds predominantly overseas are funds of funds that invest primarily in overseas funds, rather than UK domiciled funds. As the underlying overseas funds are less likely to be in the IA universe, these funds are not excluded for the purposes of avoiding double counting. Checking this option leaves these funds of funds in, while excluding funds of funds that invest primarily in other UK domiciled funds.
